Safety margins and feedback strategies for AWD vehicles

Today’s AWD-systems make it possible to supplement brake-based stability systems to obtain additional benefits within active safety along with increased traction and improved driving performance. The project aims at developing control strategies at the vehicle level which, through the interaction between sub-systems that affect the traction and braking torque, can warn and support the driver in critical situations. The research will focus on answering the following: ”How can safety margins be quantified and what feedback strategies should be used to improve safety given the increased lateral and longitudinal performance provided by AWD systems?” Visit http://www.klomp.se/matthijs/forskning/ for more information.
