Many investigations show a correlation between road condition and the accident risk. By estimating the friction between the tyre and the roadway it is possible to inform the driver about the condition while active/adaptive systems in the vehicle can quickly adapt to the conditions at hand.
The aim of the RFE project is to estimate the friction between tyre and roadway and to evaluate/optimise reliability as well as delay of the signal. Three different concepts will be analysed.
